Questions

How long are dogs pregnant?

Dogs carry about 63 days — about 2 months. Most have their puppies between day 57 and day 65 after breeding.

How do I work out a dog’s due date?

Add 63 days to the day she was bred. Example: a female bred on September 1 is due about November 3 — most likely between October 28 and November 5.

Why a window and not one day?

No two dogs are the same. Most give birth between day 57 and day 65, so start watching her at the beginning of the window. Counted from the day of ovulation, dogs carry 62–64 days; from a breeding the count varies more.

What if she was with the male for weeks?

Enter the first and the last day they were together. The window then runs from the first day plus 57 days to the last day plus 65 days.
